Delaware Driver's Licenses
Will Indicate
Past Sex Offenses
Excerpts from Source: AP, April 21, 1998
DOVER, Delaware -- Govenor Thomas Carper signed into law a measure requiring sex offenders to be identified as such on their driver's licenses.
Under the new Delaware law, anyone convicted of a sex offense will be required to obtain a new driver's license after release from prison.
There would be a letter "Y" designation on that license, indicating the person was a sex offender. The designation will be explained on the back of the license.
This is an extension of the sex offender registry law, better known as Megan's Law, -- which was named after the New Jersey girl who was raped and killed by a sex offender living near her home.
